What fire rating do I need for a door in NYC?
It depends on the wall assembly the door sits in. Common NYC requirements: 20 minutes for apartment entry doors in some occupancies, 90 minutes for stair and boiler room doors, up to 3 hours for high-hazard separations. Bring your architect’s door schedule or code reference and we will match the labeled assembly to it.
Does a fire rated door need a special frame?
Yes. The label applies to the whole opening, so a rated door must hang in a rated frame with compatible rated hardware, including self-closing hinges or a closer. We quote complete labeled openings so nothing fails inspection.
How fast can I get fire rated doors in NYC?
